Scenario: I am running my CDS 24 hours a day. I am about to go to a Live Show and there are 5 people already listening to the CDS feed on the stream. I kick the CDS from the server and connect my DSP. I make sure my bitrate and sample rate that I am now sending from the DSP matches what was sending from the CDS. However... even with all settings the same when I make the change... if the client is listening via the Flash Player the sound starts cutting out every two seconds, if listening via Winamp the sound does not cut out, but the speed changes and gets either super slow or super fast. In either case if the client closes & re-opens it resumes normally.
So I would like to able to switch "on-the-fly" and not have anyone interrupted or have to restart players (either flash player on website or whatever media player) so I can cleanly & professionally transition from the CDS to a Live Transmission. Possible? |

this is caused by the bitrate, frequency and channel configuration of the source being different. Although you suggest you have matched them from the CDS to the live source this is the only cause of the problem you describe. Do make sure none of the content is encoded with MP3Pro, as this will cause many problems and is an unsupported format.
I would recommend you listen to the stream with Winamp which will detail the bitrate, frequency and channel configuration then configure your DSP to match. Andrew. |

got it. even though the settings matched, my source .MP3 was encoded to 48khz.... changed to 44.1 now Winamp is happy but the flash player still cuts until I reload. seems like an issue with the flash player. I will try the Minicaster one and see how that does.
